Labour Day!

A long weekend is near. As you may know next Friday, May 1st, it is Labor Day.

Labour Day

Labour Day also falls on May 1 and is an annual holiday which celebrates the achievements of workers.

In the UK it is also known as International Workers’ Day - with the date chosen to commemorate the Haymarket affair of 1886.

The Haymarket affair began as a peaceful rally, held on May 4, 1886, at Haymarket Square in Chicago, in support of workers striking in a push for an eight hour day.

But the demonstration ended in tragedy, with a bombing which killed seven police officers and four workers.

As well as commemorating those who died, International Workers’ Day celebrates labourers and the working classes.

Se acerca un largo fin de semana. Como sabéis el próximo viernes 1 de mayo, es el Día del Trabajo.

El Día del Trabajo cae el 1 de mayo y es una fiesta anual que celebra los logros de los trabajadores.

En el Reino Unido también se conoce como el Día Internacional de los Trabajadores, con la fecha elegida para conmemorar el asunto de Haymarket de 1886.

El asunto de Haymarket comenzó como una manifestación pacífica, celebrada el 4 de mayo de 1886, en Haymarket Square en Chicago, en apoyo de los trabajadores en huelga para conseguir una jornada al día de ocho horas.

Pero la manifestación terminó en tragedia, con un bombardeo que mató a siete policías y cuatro trabajadores.

Además de conmemorar a los fallecidos, el Día Internacional de los Trabajadores celebra a los trabajadores y las clases trabajadoras.

Bank Holiday!!

A bank holiday is the name given in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland to the holidays traditionally enjoyed by bank workers and which have now been extended to other sectors as a national holiday while remaining active only the minimum services such as fire, ambulances, medical centers, police, etc.

In the United States, the term refers to those days that banks remain closed by order of the executive or Congress without there being a direct relationship with national holidays.

Un bank holiday ("fiesta bancaria") es el nombre que reciben en el Reino Unido y la República de Irlanda los días festivos que tradicionalmente disfrutaban los trabajadores de la banca y que actualmente se han extendido a otros sectores como festivo nacional permaneciendo activos tan sólo los servicios mínimos como bomberos, ambulancias, centros médicos, policía, etc.

En Estados Unidos el término hace referencia a aquellos días que los bancos permanecen cerrados por orden del ejecutivo o del Congreso sin que haya una relación directa con las festividades nacionales.

'News in Student Aid'

Hola!Hoy como novedad, sobre todo para 5º y 6º son unos vídeos con la explicación del Comparativo y del Superlativo en la sección "Student Aid". Además de los apuntes que ya tenéis ahora lo podéis ver también, espero que os gusten y ayuden. Para 3º y 4º de Primaria de momento sólo tengo tareas nuevas, pero no os preocupéis que también os subiré algún vídeo con la explicación de vuestra gramática.

Hoy el post va dirigido a los padres que estáis ayudando a vuestros hijos con las tareas. Primero agradeceros todo lo que estáis haciendo y la implicación que tenéis y segundo a aquellos padres y madres que lo estáis haciendo a la perfección muchas gracias por ello. 

Para aquellos que aún no habéis cogido la dinámica os comunico como lo tenéis que hacer:

1º En el correo SIEMPRE indicar en el ASUNTO de quién es la tarea.

2º En el asunto poner el nombre y el curso del alumno. (Ejemplo: Martín 3º o Lara S. 4º- cuando hay varios con el mismo nombre añadimos 1ª letra del apellido)

3º Si queréis preguntar algo o comunicar algo, hay que hacerlo en el mensaje NUNCA EN EL ASUNTO (Ahí va el nombre y curso)

4º Enviar las tareas: podéis enviarlas todas en el mismo correo o también en varios correos si son días distintos.

NOTA: si tenéis 8 tareas terminadas para ser enviadas, estas van juntas en el mismo correo. Evitar enviar 8 correos con una tarea cada uno, gracias.

5º Cualquier duda o ayuda que necesitéis, SIEMPRE será un placer ayudaros a resolverlo.

Today the post is aimed at parents who are helping your children with homework. First of all, thank you for what you are doing and the implication that you have and secondly for those parents who are doing it perfectly, thank you very much for it. 

For those who have not yet taken the dynamics, I inform you how you have to do it:

1st In the mail ALWAYS indicate in the MAIL SUBJECT whose homework is.

2nd In the mail subject you have to put the student's name and the course. (Example: Martín 3rd or Lara S. 4th - when there are several with the same name we add 1st letter of the last name)

3rd If you want to ask something or communicate something, you have to do it in the message NEVER IN THE MAIL SUBJECT (There goes the name and course)

4th Send the tasks: you can send them all in the same email or also in several emails if they are different days.

NOTE: if you have 8 completed tasks to be sent, they go together in the same email. Avoid sending 8 emails with one task each, thanks.

5th Any question or help you need, it will ALWAYS be a pleasure to help you solve it.

Tenemos novedades con una nueva sección "Student Aid" en ella podréis encontrar la teoría sobre los ejercicios para que podáis estudiar. Muchos ya la tenéis en vuestras libretas, pero como otros os habéis dejado las cosas en clase; pues aquí está la solución.

En ella encontraréis los archivos que iré subiendo en relación con lo que hemos visto durante el curso. 

Hoy se han subido actividades para 5º y 6º de primaria.

- 4º de Primaria una ficha doble, pinchando en la fruta ya os sale las dos fichas para hacer.

No hace falta hacerlas inmediatamente, porque hasta el próximo martes no vais a tener más tareas de inglés.

Organazing Tasks

To further improve the organization of your tasks and so that you and your parents can organize themselves better. I have decided to set schedules to upload the tasks. So the schedule would be as follows:

                              - 3rd y 4th Grades: Tuesday and Thursday                                                              - 5th y 6th Grades: Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Para mejorar un poco más la organización de vuestras tareas y para que vosotros y los padres se puedan organizar mejor. He decidido poner horarios para subiros las tareas. Así que el horario quedaría de la siguiente manera:

We start with the news!

Starting today you can find a new section "Tales" where you will find classic stories from literature. They are not compulsory but they are highly recommended to expand vocabulary. Some stories will have comprehension activities, they are also optional.

On the other hand, homework has been uploaded for 3rd and 4th Grade, I hope you like the review worksheet.

A partir de hoy podréis encontrar una nueva sección "Tales" donde iréis encontrando clásicos de la literatura. No son obligatorios pero son muy aconsejables para ir ampliando vocabulario. Algunos cuentos tendrán actividades de comprensión, también son opcionales.

Por otro lado, se ha subido tarea para 3º y 4º de Primaria, espero que os guste la ficha de repaso.

April showers bring May flowers

Yesterday we started a new month, APRIL, and as the saying "April showers bring May flowers" says, we hope that it is fulfilled so staying at home will be much easier for everyone to carry. By the way you are doing great!

A new student has sent a photo that has been shared since yesterday, you will have to go to see who he is. He also has a great partner.

Finally, I would like to remind you that you do the activities in the same way that we did in class:

- Avoid the pencil (it looks bad to correct) you can use a black or blue pen.

- Good calligraphy, for the same as with the pencil, I have a hard time seeing what you write.

- When I return the corrections, you know, RED pen.

- You can do the tasks in the notebook directly or print the cards and do it.

Any questions that arise you already know that you can ask;  Cheer up champions you are doing great.

Ayer comenzamos un nuevo mes, ABRIL, y como dice el refrán en "Abril aguas mil" esperemos que se cumpla así el quedar en casa será mucho más fácil de llevar por todos, que por cierto lo estáis haciendo genial.

Un nuevo compañero ha enviado una foto que ya está compartida desde ayer, tendréis que ir para ver quién es, pista: tiene un compañero genial.

Por último, me gustaría recordaros que las actividades las hagáis de la misma forma que las hacíamos en clase:

 - Evitar el lápiz (se ve fatal para corregir) podéis usar bolígrafo negro o azul.

 - Buena caligrafía, por lo mismo que con el lápiz, me cuesta mucho ver lo que escribís.

 - Cuando os devuelvo las correcciones, ya sabéis, bolígrafo ROJO.

 - Podéis hacer las tareas en la libreta directamente o bien imprimir las fichas.

Cualquier duda que os surja ya sabéis que podéis preguntar, ánimo campeones y campeonas lo estáis haciendo genial.
