Weekend!

Hola chicas y chicos,

Llega el fin de semana y seguimos más de lo mismo. Pero es tiempo de descanso, así que hay que buscar alternativas a lo que hacemos durante la semana.

Podéis recoger vuestro cuarto, algo que a las mamas les va a encantar o que ellas os cojan de pinches en la cocina y así vais aprendiendo a cocinar algo.

Por otro lado, podríais optar por la vena artística y quizás os de por escribir algún cuento o relato (no estaría de más y lo podría publicar aquí) o por el arte y hagáis algún bonito dibujo.

También podéis echar un partida contra papá o mamá a la consola, así no jugáis solos y quizás os llevéis unas sorpresa y os ganen. 😂😂

Ya por última recomendación podéis ser booktubers por un día: eligen el libro que más le guste o que hayan leído recientemente y lo reseñan en vídeo para que todos puedan conocer de qué se trata. También y si les gusta la experiencia, pueden realizar otros vídeos con recomendaciones de lecturas, por ejemplo. SIEMPRE que hagáis esto, bajo la supervisión de papá o/y mamá.

Father's Day - San José

¡Muchas felicidades a todos los padres y todos los José y Josefas!

Establishment of the holiday: The first Father´s day celebration was held in Spokane, Washington in 1910. It was started by Sonora Smart Dodd who after hearing a sermon about Mother`s day in 1909 told the pastor that fathers should have a similar day. Several local clergymen accepted the idea, and on 19th of June 1910, the first father`s Day, ‘sermons honouring fathers were presented throughout the city.’

In the 1930s, Dodd began to promote the idea at a national level. She had help of those trade groups that would benefit most from the holiday, for example the manufacturers of ties, tobacco pipes, and any traditional present to fathers and by 1938 she had help from the Father`s Day Council.In 1966, President Lyndon B. Johnson issued the first presidential proclamation honouring fathers, designating the third Sunday in June as Father`s Day. Six years later, the day was made a permanent national holiday when President Richard Nixon signed it into law in 1972.

Traditional activities in English-speaking countries: In the Roman Catholic tradition, Fathers are celebrated on Saint Joseph's Day, commonly called Feast of Saint Joseph, March 19, though in certain countries Father's Day has become a secular celebration. It is also common for Catholics to honor their "spiritual father," their parish priest, on Father's Day. In most English-speaking areas it is celebrated on the third Sunday of June. Nevertheless, in Ireland and the UK, Father's Day is not a public holiday; Being a recent commercial invention imported from the USA, it has no historical or cultural relevance.

In the US it is a more traditional festivity. Typically, families gather to celebrate the father figures in their lives. In recent years, retailers have adapted to the holiday by promoting greeting cards and traditionally masculine gifts such as electronics and tools. Schools and other children's programs commonly have activities to make Father's Day gifts.

St. Patrick's Day!

Saint Patrick’s Day, feast day (March 17) of St. Patrick, patron saint of Ireland. Born in Roman Britain in the late 4th century, he was kidnapped at the age of 16 and taken to Ireland as a slave. He escaped but returned about 432 to convert the Irish to Christianity. By the time of his death on March 17, 461, he had established monasteries, churches, and schools. Many legends grew up around him—for example, that he drove the snakes out of Ireland and used the shamrock to explain the Trinity. Ireland came to celebrate his day with religious services and feasts.

It was emigrants, particularly to the United States, who transformed St. Patrick’s Day into a largely secular holiday of revelry and celebration of things Irish. Cities with large numbers of Irish immigrants, who often wielded political power, staged the most extensive celebrations, which included elaborate parades. Boston held its first St. Patrick’s Day parade in 1737, followed by New York City in 1762. Since 1962 Chicago has coloured its river green to mark the holiday. (Although blue was the colour traditionally associated with St. Patrick, green is now commonly connected with the day.) Irish and non-Irish alike commonly participate in the “wearing of the green”—sporting an item of green clothing or a shamrock, the Irish national plant, in the lapel. Corned beef and cabbage are associated with the holiday, and even beer is sometimes dyed green to celebrate the day. Although some of these practices eventually were adopted by the Irish themselves, they did so largely for the benefit of tourists.
